Letter from the Executive Director

The annual report for EVE, Inc. continues to evolve to meet the needs of our donors and friends. This year the printed report contains the audit report for the 2006-2007 fiscal year, a synopsis of the statistical data reflecting the services provided during the year, and an appreciation section recognizing donors who have helped to sustain the mission over the past year.

This year we offer additional detailed information about EVE on our website version of the report that you can find at www.eveinc.org. There you will find more details regarding the services provided to the victims of domestic violence. You will also learn of some of our accomplishments of the last year as well as be able to read comments by the women and children who have used EVE services. A complete listing of EVE volunteers and pictures of our friends are also located on the site. We hope that you enjoy this expanded version of the 2006-2007 annual report.

We remember 2006-2007 as the year that Ronalee Polad left the Board of Directors after 13 years of service. Ronnie has been a tireless worker on behalf of the victims of domestic violence and a mainstay of EVE, Inc. While she retired from the Board, she has not left the agency. She continues to serve on the Fund Development Committee where she enjoys putting her energy toward EVE's annual Silent & Live Auction EVEnt.

We are grateful to Ronnie for her many years of service devoted to creating a strong, viable program that effectively serves the victims of domestic violence. We hope she continues to enjoy the "fun" part of fundraising and knows just how important she has been to the development and progress that EVE, Inc. has made over the past decade.

Letter from the President

For EVE, 2007 marked a milestone--30 years of valuable services provided to the Lansing area community. Unfortunately, as with many non-profit organizations, the past year has also been particularly highlighted by financial challenges. Working with the Executive Director, the Board began new initiatives to address these challenges and to improve the organization's future financial status.

A strategic plan has been developed with goals to enhance EVE's financial resources and visibility in the community. For example, an ad is currently running prior to each movie at the Celebration Cinema, wristbands are being sold at festivals and planning is proceeding for the establishment of a Friends of EVE organization.  This year there will be a focus on such things as marketing strategies and planned giving.

The ability of EVE to meet the critical needs of victims of domestic violence and their children is dependent on grants and the support of corporate and individual donors. That support is deeply appreciated and much needed to secure the sound financial stability of the organization as this new year of provision of services continues.

Denise Quarles
Board President
