Volunteer Position Description
Position Title: Dating Violence Volunteer
Supervised By: Community Development Director

Brief Description of the Position:
The dating violence prevention education volunteer plays an active role in strengthening awareness about dating violence in the community through public speaking and outreach efforts.
The primary objectives of the dating violence prevention program are to educate Ingham county youth on the characteristics of a healthy relationship, assist students in identifying warning signs and predictors of dating violence, increase awareness of the forms and dynamics of abusive relationships and provide information on the community resources available to victims and survivors of dating and domestic violence.

Duties Include:
• Provide dating violence prevention education and information on EVE’s mission, goals and services to youth between the ages of 12-17
• Fill requests and keep calendar for public speaking engagements
• Recruit, train and schedule volunteers and interns to assist with prevention education
• Attend community fairs, conferences, and/or other venues
• Assist in updating EVE’s resource materials and training manuals
• Provide feedback to the community relations coordinator on the effectiveness of materials used in presentations
• Compile, track and report information from presentations that will include feedback forms, contact information, numbers of people served and location (city) of presentation

Hours:
Maximum 10 hrs/week

Days/Hours Needed:
M-F-mostly between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Schedule will vary depending on the day and time of presentation requests
May include some evening or weekend hours during training

Training/Test:
TB Test
EVE, Inc. 40 hour training (if available)
