On August 12, the Verizon Foundation presented EVE, Inc. a $9,800 grant to sustain its Girls Are Powerful outreach counseling program for middle school girls. Verizon President of the Great Lakes Region, Gale Given along with Paul Fuglie, Vice-President of Public Affairs and John D. Van Wyck, Director of External Communications traveled to EVE, Inc. in Lansing to make the presentation. EVE's Executive Director, Susan Shoultz stated, "We are proud to have the support of Verizon for the work that we do. Their commitment to the prevention of intimate partner violence is to be admired. The Girls Are Powerful program focuses on enhancing the ability of girls to demonstrate behaviors that will increase their potential to form healthy relationships and reduce the risk of violent behaviors. The program is available to all eligible girls throghout Ingham County. Verizon Foundation has a long standing commitment to quality of life issues in the community and a specific interest in ending domestic violence. Verizon provides support for programs such as EVE's GAP program in order to reduce the potential of dating violence in our society.

"A Woman's Journey from Domestic Violence Victim to Survivor"
by Stacie Dubay, Counseling Supervisor at EVE, Inc., is an interactive traveling exhibit intended to honor the strength and courage of women who have experienced domestic violence and encourage others to take action. Detailed pictures of the exhibit are now online at Gift from Within, an international nonprofit organization providing support to survivors of trauma and victimization. With clickable pictures, the Gift from Within website offers a detailed look at different sections of the door for an interactive experience.
