Michigan Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence - Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Questioning and Allies Task ForceRelationship abuse is not an argument or a bad mood once in a while, it is a pattern of abusive behaviors, including intimidation, threats, isolation and coercion, that one person uses against another to gain power and control in a relationship. Abuse can by physical, verbal, sexual and emotional. Also known as domestic violence, relationship abuse occurs in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and heterosexual communities. These forms of violence cross all social, ethnic, racial and economic lines. An individual’s size, strength, politics or personality does not determine whether a person could be victimized or be an abuser.
