Local Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault ResourcesCapital Area Response Effort (CARE) (517) 272-7436 The purpose of CARE is to assist survivors of domestic violence in breaking the cycle of violence. The mission of CARE is to reduce family violence and draw on resources of various community groups to intervene in domestic violence situations. Through the program, staff and volunteers are on-call to assist those who are survivors of domestic violence.

MSU Safe Place (Michigan State University) 517-355-1100 MSU Safe Place is for MSU students, faculty, staff, retirees or their partners, and children who are experiencing an emotionally, physically or sexually abusive relationship. The program also offers services to non-MSU affiliated persons when staffing and shelter space are available. All services are free and confidential.
MSU Sexual Assault Program (Michigan State University) 24 Hour Sexual Assault Hotline (517) 372-6666 The MSU Sexual Assault Program responds to the needs of those impacted by sexual violence and works to create a socially just community: free of violence, abuse of power, and oppression. Michigan Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence) MCADSV is dedicated to the empowerment of all the state's survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Our mission is to develop and promote efforts aimed at the elimination of all domestic and sexual violence in Michigan.

SIREN Shelter (Eaton County) (517) 543-4915 (800)-899-9997 The mission of SIREN/Eaton Shelter is to promote the elimination of domestic violence and homelessness by providing temporary housing, support, advocacy, education, and information to the community. SIREN/Eaton Shelter is committed to holding batterers responsible for their actions. Local Community ResourcesIngham County Prosecuting Attorney (517) 483-6108 The Prosecuting Attorney's Office reviews all requests for complaints and warrants involving violations of state law, Michigan State University and/or County ordinances, represents the people in all criminal cases within the County in the district and circuit courts and the appeals courts of Michigan. The Prosecuting Attorney reviews all petitions involving juvenile persons under 17 who engage in State law violations, as well as abuse and neglect matters and represents the people and victims all County probate court matters, including mental petitions and commitments. This office is responsible for working with victims of crime under the Michigan Constitution and Crime Victims Rights Act.
Legal Services of South Central Michigan (517) 394-3121 Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) is a private non-profit organization that provides free legal advice and representation to low-income persons and senior citizens (regardless of income) in certain civil legal cases. We provide general civil legal services to low-income and senior citizens of Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Clinton, Eaton, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, Shiawassee, and Washtenaw counties. We also provide legal services to senior citizens of St. Joseph County. Personal Protection Order Office (517) 483-6545 EVE's Personal Protection Order Office and Mason Domestic Violence Support Unit (517) 676-8285 provide support and advocacy to victims experiencing family violence, dating violence, sexual assault and/or stalking. Personal Protection Orders (PPOs) are orders by the Circuit Court that forbid or require a person to do something. The person filing the PPO is the petitioner, and the person against whom a PPO is filed is the respondent.
